Itinerary
Morning Departure
Your local English-speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel in central Can Tho at 6:00 AM to begin your Can Tho Rural Tour.
Board a traditional wooden boat and travel along the waterways toward Cai Rang Floating Market. As the city begins its day, observe riverside homes, passing boats and everyday activities along the river.
This morning journey combines river exploration and countryside cycling, offering different perspectives on local life in the Mekong Delta.
Start your morning market visit with Mekong Smile
Cai Rang Floating Market
Begin your morning at Cai Rang Floating Market, a traditional river trading destination in Can Tho, where local vendors sell fruits, vegetables and other goods directly from their boats.
Your guide will introduce the market's history, local trading customs and the cay beo (bamboo advertising pole), which vendors use to display samples of the products available on their boats.
Enjoy breakfast on the boat while observing daily activities along the river. Depending on the availability of local vendors, you may also have the opportunity to taste fresh pineapple from a pineapple boat.
What to expect: Cai Rang is a working floating market, and the number of trading boats varies with the season, weather and daily market conditions. The visit focuses on experiencing local river culture rather than expecting the same level of activity every day.
Taste juicy fresh pineapples right from a vendor boat
Traditional Rice Noodle Workshop
Continue your Can Tho Rural Tour with a visit to a traditional rice noodle workshop, where you can discover how hủ tiếu, a popular noodle dish in the Mekong Delta, is made.
Observe the rice noodle-making process, including the preparation, steaming and cutting of rice sheets, depending on the workshop's daily production activities. Your local guide will explain the traditional techniques and the importance of rice noodles in Can Tho's food culture.
During the visit, enjoy a taste of crispy rice noodle pizza, a local specialty made from rice noodles.
Please note: Opportunities to participate in noodle making depend on the workshop's operating conditions.

Tropical Fruit Garden
Visit a tropical fruit garden in Can Tho and discover the variety of fruits cultivated in the Mekong Delta. Walk through the orchard, observe local fruit trees and learn about fruit growing in the region.
Depending on the season, the garden may feature mango, guava, dragon fruit and other tropical varieties. Enjoy a taste of fresh seasonal fruits while experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of the Can Tho countryside.
Please note: Fruit varieties and availability change throughout the year. Fruit picking is subject to the garden's conditions and is not guaranteed on every visit.
Pick, taste, and savor fruits straight from the tree
Village Cycling Adventure
Experience the highlight of your Can Tho Rural Tour with a 7-10 km countryside cycling adventure through the rural landscapes of the Mekong Delta.
Follow quiet village roads, passing fruit gardens, local homes and farmland along the way. Unlike exploring Can Tho entirely by boat, cycling allows you to discover the countryside at a slower pace and observe everyday life beyond the main waterways.
This rural cycling experience in Can Tho combines gentle outdoor activity with opportunities to appreciate the region's agricultural landscapes and village atmosphere.
What to expect: The cycling route covers approximately 7-10 km. Road conditions and the exact route may vary depending on weather and local circumstances. Guests should be comfortable riding a bicycle before joining this activity.
Exploring these charming village paths
Gian Gua Ancient Relic
During your countryside cycling journey, visit Gian Gua Ancient Relic, a historical and natural heritage site in Can Tho, known for its remarkable network of intertwined branches and roots.
The sprawling Gian Gua tree has grown over generations, forming a dense natural canopy that offers shade and a distinctive landscape. Walk beneath its branches, observe the unusual tree formations and take photographs of this local landmark.
Beyond its natural appearance, Gian Gua holds historical and cultural significance for the local community. The site was associated with revolutionary activities during wartime and remains connected to local spiritual traditions.
Recognized as a Vietnam Heritage Tree in 2013, Gian Gua offers an opportunity to explore another aspect of Can Tho's history and rural heritage during your cycling tour.
A perfect spot to relax and feel the nature around
Tranquil Canal Cruise
After exploring the countryside by bicycle, continue your Can Tho Rural Tour with a relaxing small canal cruise through the quieter waterways of the Mekong Delta.
Travel along narrow canals surrounded by water coconut palms, lush greenery and riverside vegetation. Away from the busier waterways around Cai Rang Floating Market, this boat ride offers a different perspective on the region's natural landscapes and rural atmosphere.
The tranquil canal cruise provides a relaxing contrast to the earlier 7-10 km countryside cycling experience, allowing you to appreciate Can Tho's waterways from the boat before the morning tour concludes.
Please note: The exact canal route and scenery may vary depending on water levels, weather and local operating conditions.

Great, easy way to visit the market. Private tour and smaller boat allowed us to go into the middle of the market. Breakfast from the market on the boat was delicious! Guide was super knowledgeable and engaging. Rice noodle visit also cool to see.

The tour was a lot of fun. We got to have breakfast on a boat at Cai Rang floating market and then we also enjoyed some nice fruit. Afterwards we moved on to a local rice noodles factory where we were shown how the noodles are made, and we also got to try how to cut the rice paper into noodles. Then we cycled around the countryside until we reach the Holy Ficus tree where our tour guide explained to us its legend. Finally we got to enjoy a walk around a tropical fruit garden and ate some fruit, before heading back to Can Tho by boat. Our tour guide Thinh was very well prepared both with necessities for the trip and with knowledge. We had a lot of fun and we absolutely recommend this tour!

It was a very nice experience. First we sailed by boat to the “floating market” and had breakfast there. We also got to taste pineapple. Then we went to a factory where they make noodles. Very educational. We also took a bike ride through the countryside and were able to taste different kinds of fruit. Our guide Nguyen could give us a lot of explanations about everything and speaks very good English. Highly recommended if you want to learn more about life in the Mekong Delta.

I was lucky to be the only person on this trip. The guide, Jane, looked after me so well and gave me so much local information. She was so lovely. It was a nice combination of a trip on an authentic boat and cycling around the countryside plus a few visits to different places along the way. It was so interesting. Thank you also to the kind lady on the boat who made me some beautiful souvenirs out of leaves.

What a surprisingly fun day trip – it was nice being back out on the river, but also get a chance to see how the locals live in the Mekong Delta and also support local families with your tourism dollars. The fish farm was great fun and the lunch was the best tour meal we’ve had in all of our travels through Vietnam.

The floating market experience was absolutely wonderful. Despite the early start, feeling the gentle breeze on our faces and seeing the small houses and people on either side was truly enjoyable. The noodles and pineapples sold by the vendors on the water were incredibly delicious. The trip also included a visit to a noodle-making factory where we could make noodles by hand.

I joined the Mekong Delta Fruit Garden & Cycling Tour, and it was an excellent experience. Our guide, Cris, was very fluent in English and handled an unexpected heavy shower with great flexibility by arranging a short stop at a nearby local house. He gave clear explanations, was extremely kind, and made the whole tour very enjoyable. Meeting such a wonderful guide was truly a stroke of luck. Since my colleagues also often travel to this area for business, I will definitely recommend Cris and hope to join his tour again in the future.

Extraordinary! An immersion in local life. An exciting and dedicated guide! And icing on the cake, for us alone! Even the boat was a traditional boat, not a tourist boat. We played accrates with a family, drank coconut milk, ate noodles, rode a bike, and all with great pleasure and an incredible welcome! Jimmy is a wealth of information and he’s looking for you anything you want. Recommend without hesitation!
